Each week I am going to share one of my favorite things.  This week I came across Lilithist on Etsy. She makes the most amazing capes, shawls...etc..  absolutely gorgeous!!!  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving to all!

stop rushing....

Happy Friday everyone....  I have a huge pet peeve and it's gotten worse this year!  Is it me or are we being rushed through every holiday??  There is Christmas stuff out in August and September and now they are starting black Friday on Thanksgiving night!?  Shame on you retailers!  Are you really that greedy?  Can't we just enjoy our Thanksgiving with our families?  I will not be participating in the craziness!  I feel like we can't even enjoy and focus on Thanksgiving which is such a wonderful holiday and becoming increasingly more important to me as I get older...  Thanksgiving is a time to really appreciate all the gifts in your life... family, friends, your health, the fact you have shelter, food and clean water to drink.... so take the time to enjoy this next week preparing and getting ready for the day..... At each of your guests places put a little piece of paper and ask them to write down what they are most grateful for!  It's fun and gets conversation started and everyone thinking about how lucky they are.... no matter what your circumstances, there is always something to be thankful for!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I am busy planning new designs for Spring 2012 and get inspiration from many different resources...  One of my favorite places to go is Style.com!  I spend at least one evening a week combing through sites for inspiration and this is a great one!

Sometimes it's just the smallest thing that makes you realize how lucky you are.  I have the world's best husband, three biological children who love me (and I them), three stepchildren whom I love and adore (I think they like me too :-) and friends whose relationships I cherish.  I don't have much family but my sweet, adorable aunt is flying in today from Florida to spend a week with me and I cannot wait!

What to put in the guest room for her??  Fresh towels (big and fluffy!), a vase full of fresh hydrangeas, a beautifully scented candle, magazines, a robe to stay cozy and warm and a freshly made bed piled with warm blankets and fluffy pillows!  Happy Friday to all!  Hope everyone has a great weekend and for all my friends still with no power....I am praying you get it back soon!!

dreaming in turquoise

Ahh, the color of the ocean... I always think of turquoise!  My fondest recent memory is of the waters of St. Maarten where I married my honey on the beach on a beautiful, sunny and very hot day!  With all this crazy unexpected snow this week, I find myself daydreaming about those gorgeous beaches and becoming inspired to create lovely things!

In my internet surfing late at night I came across one of my new favorite sites.... Layla Grace.  This website is full of goodies for anyone who loves vintage or romantic type decorating!  They also have a new sister site called Zinc Door which is a really cool site for anyone who likes a more modern approach to home decor.  Check them out!
