top six hair mistakes......

We all want beautiful, shiny, young looking hair but so many of us over the age of 40 make these 6 mistakes that can add 10 years to you!

All one length hair is great for anyone younger than 35, but after that some face framing layers will add bounce and youth to your look!

You might think all that mousse, root lifter and hairspray are helping but they are actually weighing down your hair and drying it out!

Solid brown or black hair is aging.  When hair is this dark with no highlights around the face, it draws attention to lines and bags by casting shadows on the face.

Avoid very cool tones like platinum and ash colors which drain your face and make you look sallow.  Instead, go for warm colors like butter and honey.

Just getting your hair in great condition can take years off!  Deep condition once a week, do not shampoo every day, try to use a sulfate free shampoo, rub moroccan oil through before drying and most of all, get frequent trims!
A long, lank hairstyle with drag you down!  Add in layers and use a round brush to create soft curls at the ends of hair.  Curls always add a youthful look!

mad for mad men......

I am so thrilled that Mad Men is back!  It is such a great show and I just love looking at the fashions from that time period.  In the season opener Don and Megan Draper were vacationing in Hawaii and I just adored her cute floral bikini! Costume Designer Janie Bryant revealed in an In Style article that they purchased her vintage "mod" bikini from Palace Costume in Los Angeles but we shopped around and found a real cutie on Etsy for $36!  Check around online or at vintage stores for a cutie of your own!

I also love Megan's hat and shift mini dress by Vera Neumann which was found at Jet Rag in Los Angeles.  Shopping vintage is so much fun and I love the thrill of the hunt!  I think it is fun to throw a vintage piece in here and there!

You can copy Meghan's look with any of these fun white floppy hats we found online!

white on....

No, it is not Memorial Day yet!  Who cares???  Those old rules are OUT the window (I don't like rules anyway!)!!  You can wear white anytime you like!  I just love the look of white on white and so does my local dry cleaner!

Happy Tuesday!
